Council is rapped over outsourcing care services

The outgoing Local Government Ombudsman has warned local authorities they ‘cannot contract out accountability’ when awarding contracts for care home services.

Dr Jane Martin spoke out after issuing a report that criticised Wokingham BC for leaving a vulnerable patient severely malnourished while living in a care home it contracted to look after her.
