How do you fill the NHS black hole?

As The MJ goes to press this week, we have yet to see the outcome of the Autumn Statement – but there have been so many pre-announcement announcements it’s hard to see what could be left.

But, it is unlikely to be a huge boost of extra cash for local government.

What is clear is the increasingly disjointed nature of care funding. As local government struggles along with the Better Care Fund in a bid to try to personalise, join up with health and improve services for the ever-increasing number of elderly care users, services have held up so far, but there is only so much that can be done with slashed funding.
