Private concerns about Sajid Javid’s commitment to local government have greeted his reappointment to the role of communities secretary.
Mr Javid had been tipped to lose his job but prime minister Theresa May has been forced to opt for continuity following the surprise election result, which has left the Conservatives with a minority government.
