Councils have pointed to official figures on refugees as evidence the Home Affairs Committee was wrong to suggest local authorities were ‘not pulling their weight’.
A damning report by MPs earlier this month criticised councils after just 1,602 people were accepted under the voluntary Syrian Vulnerable Persons Resettlement Scheme between October and March.
