The shared society must be routed in communities

Remember the shared society? Back before the Brexit announcements and the industrial strategy, this was Theresa May’s vision for a fairer, better Britain.

Following up on the themes she explored during her first speech as prime minister, shared society is all about aiding social mobility through active government and it was billed by some commentators as the most left-wing speech ever made by a Conservative prime minister.
