Whitehall's 'frustrating silence' raises devolution concerns

Senior local government figures have blasted Whitehall’s ‘frustrating silence’ over devolution as pressure mounts on prime minister Theresa May to deliver ‘grown up’ deals.

The Government was dealt a major blow last week when key Northern Powerhouse champion Lord O’Neill quit the Treasury, prompting fears from the sector that the ‘wind had gone out of [devolution’s] sails’.
