£1bn funding still not enough to meet needs

Councils hit hardest by coronavirus are those receiving the most help in the latest tranche of funding from the Government, analysis by the Institute of Fiscal Studies (IFS) has revealed.

But authorities are likely to need further funding – possibly even this financial year – if COVID cases remain high, the economic think-tank has claimed.
