Alarm bells ring over scrapping of housing rule

The Government risks ‘drastically undermining’ London’s ambitions to boost affordable housebuilding and tackle homelessness in the capital, a senior councillor has warned.

London Councils’ executive member for housing and planning, Darren Rodwell, said the decision confirmed in the Levelling Up White Paper to scrap the 80/20 rule was ‘setting off alarm bells in town halls across the capital’.
