Birmingham proposes to adopt ‘Rooney rule’

Birmingham City Council is proposing to mandate at least one woman and one BAME candidate are shortlisted for every job vacancy.

The measure is included in a report to be discussed by the council’s cabinet at a meeting tomorrow aimed at addressing inequalities affecting women and black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) people.
