Brum tourist tax call from ex-ministers

Former ministers have called for a tourist tax to be trialled in Birmingham to help fund the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham in 2022.

The calls came after former deputy prime minister Lord Heseltine said it was ‘ludicrous for British tourists to pay to visit historic collections and buildings abroad while millions of visitors to this country enjoy free access’.
