Chief defends council’s peformance after critical report on kids’ services

Worcestershire CC’s interim chief executive has insisted there are now ‘green shoots’ after a damning report on the council’s children’s services from a government commissioner.

In a statutory direction last week, education secretary Justine Greening said the council was ‘failing to perform to an adequate standard’ and ordered Worcestershire to draw up an ‘options analysis of an alternative delivery model’ by the end of this year.
