Committee chair claims minister ignoring Universal Credit concerns

A senior MP has warned Whitehall may be withholding ‘bad news’ in order to present the ‘mega reform’ as a success.

Frank Field has accused work and pensions secretary David Gauke of failing to reply to several recent letters in which he asked for clarification over the Government’s controversial decision to plough on with the roll-out of Universal Credit (UC) despite mounting evidence of problems.
