Council finance chiefs urged to remain vigilant

Council chiefs must continue to remain vigilant in scanning ahead for warning signs of impending financial crisis over the next decade, experts have warned.

A report issued last week by the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) examined how local authorities could hope to remain viable and effective ‘in the face of growing demand, tightening funding and an increasingly complex and unpredictable financial environment’.
