Council has taken 'too long' to improve

Reading Council has improved services for young people leaving care since an inadequate Ofsted inspection two years ago.

However, inspectors also said the council had ‘taken too long to address’ some of the recommendations from the report.

Inspector Nick Stacey delivered the verdict in the council’s seventh monitoring report since June 2016, weeks before Reading’s newly-formed independent children’s company is scheduled to become fully operational.
