The giant Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) is now 85.3% funded according to its latest valuation - an improvement on its financial position three years ago.
Triennial valuations published by the LGPS advisory board this week showed that LGPS assets were worth £216.4bn on 31 March 2016 while the scheme’s liabilities were valued at £253.6bn.
