Councils hit out at standardisation drive

Council figures have hit out at a government consultation to standardise recycling across the country.

Chair of the Housing, Communities and Local Government (HCLG) Committee, Clive Betts, said he had heard ‘a lot of evidence’ from councils and officers who felt they had not been consulted in advance about the Government’s waste strategy, which could have widespread implications.
