Councils paid out half COVID hospitality fund

Less than half of the grant funding available to prop up the hospitality industry following disruption due to COVID has been paid out by councils, according to Government figures.

Local authorities were tasked with administering the £635m the Omicron Hospitality and Leisure Grant Scheme, announced by the Government after footfall plummeted in the lead-up to Christmas last year as a result of the spread of the Omicron variant of COVID-19.
