Demand for place based professionals dominated 2019

Despite 2019 arguably being a year of pain and frustration with Brexit (arrgh), funding uncertainty and elections, the overall market and continuing need for senior local government professionals did not see a down-turn when compared to 2018. From our analysis the number of senior local government roles (£70k+) advertised in the MJ remained consistent – circa 700 roles in 2019.

However, whilst market volume remained the same, as I sit at my desk and reflect on the executive recruitment market and trends in 2019, to my mind what is evident is that there have been some notable shifts in the past year around type of roles and client need.
