District warning over parish push

Making it easier to establish town and parish councils could be a ‘recipe for confusion, higher costs and slowing down the transformation of public services,’ the District Councils’ Network (DCN) has warned.

This month’s Levelling Up White Paper announced a review of neighbourhood governance in England, which will ‘look at the role and functions of parish councils in England and how to make them quicker and easier to establish’.
