EXCLUSIVE: Fresh bed-blocking fine threat looming

Councils are facing a fresh risk of NHS fines for ‘bed-blocking’ as health bodies struggle to hit new Treasury targets to reduce deficits.

The Local Government Association (LGA) is seeking reassurances that councils will not fall victim to ‘completely counter-productive’ fines imposed by acute hospitals in cases where delayed transfers of care (DTC) are deemed to be the fault of councils.
