EXCLUSIVE: Government rejects pleas for flood recovery funding flexibility

The Government has rejected councils’ appeals for more flexibility over funding for flood recovery.

It was ‘reasonable for local authorities to plan for and cover emergency costs themselves up to a certain level,’ according to a letter to councils from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG), obtained by The MJ under Freedom of Information laws.
