EXCLUSIVE: Ministers to step in after tier split talks collapse

Ministers are expected to be called on to intervene in the thorny issue of business rates tier splits after talks ended with no agreement, The MJ understands.

The Government had asked the District Councils’ Network (DCN) and County Councils’ Network (CCN) to discuss options for agreeing a new tier split for business rates after the shift from 50% to 75% retention.
