Employers surprised at 'ambitious' 5% pay claim

Trade unions today demanded a ‘relatively modest’ pay rise of at least 5% in their claim for 2018/19.

The joint trade union side submission to the Local Government Association argued local government and school workers ‘needed and deserved a decent and fair pay rise’ after reaching the ‘limit of what can be squeezed from an exhausted and demoralised workforce’.
