Finance director in transformation spending warning

Reading Council has been warned it has no room for ‘slippage’ in pursuit of savings following concerns over how other authorities have used capital receipts.

A report to Reading’s full council by director of resources, Jackie Yates, urged the authority to utilise new freedoms over the use of capital receipts to ‘pump prime’ the delivery of savings targets through the council’s transformation agenda.
