Future Forum: Councils to face more legal challenges from NHS

Health bosses are likely to launch more legal challenges in the future as funding pressures continue to grow, a policy expert has predicted.

Speaking at The MJ’s Future Forum today, senior policy analyst at the Nuffield Trust think-tank, Sally Gainsbury, said there would be more cases similar to the 2016 High Court hearing in which NHS England argued it was councils’ responsibility to fund an HIV drug as they are in charge of preventative health.
