Grenfell: Refurbishment turned fire-resistant building into flammable one

Kensington & Chelsea RLBC has come under pressure once more after a leaked report blamed a low-grade refurbishment for the deadly blaze that killed 71 people.

The interim report prepared by Building Research Establishment (BRE) Global in January said the wrong cladding was only one reason why the fire spread so rapidly.

It added Grenfell Tower had been fire-resistant, but the refurbishment between 2014 and 2016 turned the building into one that was not.
