Grenfell surveyor quit over workload

The council surveyor in charge of checking that the refurbishment of tragic Grenfell Tower complied with building regulations quit due to workload pressures, a public inquiry has heard.

Experienced building control surveyor John Hoban told the Grenfell Tower Inquiry last week he felt he could not refuse extra work but eventually resigned from Kensington & Chelsea LBC three months before the fire because he found he ‘wasn’t able to do the job in the way I wanted to’.
