LGA criticises May's land banking crackdown

Government plans to tackle the housing shortage by ending land banking are not enough and should be accompanied by fresh borrowing powers for councils, Smith Square has warned.

Prime Minister Theresa May has today announced an overhaul of planning rules designed to increase the supply of new homes across the UK – focusing in particular on forcing developers to speed up their use of vacant land.
