LGA opts for carrot over stick after publication call

The Local Government Association (LGA) has batted away an independent call to publish a list of councils that have not yet engaged with sector-led improvement.

An independent evaluation commissioned by the LGA said publishing a list would allow local government to ‘see the extent of non-engagement with sector-led improvement’ and ‘enable councillors and the public to challenge’ those authorities that had not yet taken part.
