Loughton urges chiefs to join the frontline

Council chief executives and cabinet members should go back to the frontline and get out in the field with social workers, former children’s minister Tim Loughton has told The MJ.

Mr Loughton made the recommendation as he joined the debate stirred up by Association of Directors of Children’s Services president Alan Wood, who recently sparked controversy when he claimed academics were churning out ‘crap’ social workers.
