Senior local government leaders have united over calls to overhaul multi-agency inspection.
Speaking at The MJ Future Forum today, president of the Society of Local Authority Chief Executives, Mark Rogers, renewed his attack on Ofsted, arguing for a ‘proper’ multi-agency inspectorate and arguing that only its independence had emerged ‘relatively unscarred’.
Mr Rogers accused Ofsted of suppressing innovation, reinforcing risk aversion and driving up cost.
