Magna Carta is 'not for sale'

A Kent town council has insisted its copy of the Magna Carta is ‘not for sale, and never has been’ after reports that councillors may be about to consider selling it.

Faversham town councillor Kris Barker said: ‘We have been working with the residents of Faversham on a consultation of what to do with the town hall.

‘In a meeting of the policy and finance committee last week, on the back of the consultation, it was agreed to push forward with the proposal for a heritage hub museum, which would include the Magna Carta.’
