Councils face a double whammy of new costs if prime minister Theresa May implements her hastily-revised social care plan after the General Election, experts have warned.

Under proposals outlined by the Conservatives, local authorities would face ‘considerable’ administrative costs when introducing deferred social care payments, as well as substantial new long-term debts.
