Metro mayors must hit the ground running

A week on from the election of the first metro mayors, the dust is beginning to settle and some familiar local government faces are being appointed to deputy mayor roles. Let’s leave aside the glaring lack of diversity for the moment and focus on the job ahead.

The new mayors only have until 2020 to make their mark before they face the ballot box again. So what should be at the top of the in-tray for the new mayors?
