Mets feeling deprived over funding formula

The removal of deprivation as a cost driver from the Government’s proposed foundation formula triggered fury amongst metropolitan councils and concern within London boroughs.

The opening moves of a battle seemed underway when chair of the Special Interest Group of Metropolitan Authorities (SIGOMA) Sir Stephen Houghton wrote to local government minister James Brokenshire to complain about the decision.
