Minister warns Wirral and Peterborough on finances

Two councils that applied for capitalisation directions from the Government failed to face up to their financial shortcomings, reviews have found.

Local government minister Kemi Badenoch said Wirral MBC had ‘not fully acknowledged nor perhaps even understood the severity of challenge’ it faced while at Peterborough City Council the scale of the financial challenge facing the council was 'not yet fully grasped’.
