Ministry uses 'gossip' to scrutinise commercial investments

Marsham Street has been accused of relying on ‘gossip’ to track councils’ commercial ventures.

Members of the Public Accounts Committee yesterday grilled the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) on its oversight of council finances and how it gauged the risk involved in local authorities’ commercial investments.
