The National Audit Office (NAO) is to reinforce the importance of external auditor reporting after warnings were raised but ignored by Northamptonshire CC.
Northamptonshire’s auditor KPMG repeatedly issued warnings about the council’s health, publishing adverse value for money conclusions in 2015/16 and 2016/17, which Government-appointed inspector Max Caller said did not seem to trouble the authority.
