Education secretary Nadhim Zahawi has commissioned a national review in the wake of Ofsted deregistering two residential children’s homes operating in Doncaster after safeguarding concerns.
Mr Zahawi has agreed that the independent child safeguarding practice review panel should undertake the review.
Earlier this year, Doncaster safeguarding partners launched their own ‘complex abuse investigation’ following allegations surrounding Fullerton House School home and the Wilsic Hall School children’s home, which provided specialist residential care for children and young adults.
A spokesperson for Doncaster MBC said a number of investigation teams had been established, adding: ‘This is a far-reaching investigation that spans many families and many local authorities, and one we expect to take some time.’
