No movement on rates has councils in a lather

Councils have reacted with anger after the Government refused to allow them to move £300m of business rates relief between years.

In a letter to council leaders, seen by The MJ, local government minister Marcus Jones said there were ‘no plans to allow end-of-year flexibility with regard to this year’s allocations’.
