A demand for a 10% pay rise and minimum wage of £10 per hour would cost local government more than £1bn, employers have warned.
The unions’ claim also included a one-day increase in annual leave, a two-hour reduction in the working week, and a review of workplace stress and mental health.
In effect, the two-hour reduction in the working week adds another 5.4% to the pay claim.
