Communities secretary Eric Pickles has said the Rotherham child abuse scandal should act as a ‘wake up call for local government’.
Mr Pickles broke his silence on the issue two days after the publication of Professor Alexis Jay’s report into 16 years of widespread child abuse in the Yorkshire town.
