Rotherham scandal continues to hit council finances

The aftermath of Rotherham’s child exploitation scandal continues to hit council finances with an overspend of nearly £16m in its children and young people’s directorate.

A budget monitoring report to Rotherham MBC’s cabinet yesterday confirmed an improved financial position across the authority – but with significant exceptions in adult social care and, particularly, in children’s services.
