SOLACE Summit: Dawes rejects NHS cash grab idea

The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government’s (MHCLG) top civil servant has encouraged council chief executives to be bold in their asks from Whitehall.

Speaking at the Society of Local Authority Chief Executives’ annual summit today, Melanie Dawes urged delegates not to ‘short change’ themselves by arguing that a slice of the extra £20bn pledged for the NHS should go to social care.
