Sector demands clarity after hung Parliament

Local government figures have demanded clarity on the future of public services after Theresa May’s hopes of a majority were dashed. 

An unexpected Labour surge led to a shock loss of seats for the Tories, a hung Parliament and political uncertainty.

Society of Local Authority Chief Executives (SOLACE) president Jo Miller said: 'Recent weeks have demonstrated that our shared challenges spread far beyond an obsession with Brexit negotiations. We hope a Government, of whatever composition, is formed quickly to provide stability and purpose.’
