‘Sector let down by housing association’s poor governance’

The largest housing association in Sunderland has been downgraded after a regulator found senior staff who left were awarded packages that were not sufficiently scrutinised.

A report by the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) said that the Gentoo Group exhibited poor governance when agreeing contracts and severance payments to outgoing executives.
