Sheffield votes to axe waste contract – 20 years early

The waste services firm Veolia has defended its track record after Sheffield City Council voted to end its contract almost 20 years early.

A spokesman for the company said it was ‘obviously disappointed’ by the council’s decision to end the current agreement and begin the hunt for a new contractor.
