Spending freeze for Shropshire

Shropshire Council’s boss has told staff the authority has imposed a ‘spending freeze’ until 2020 in the face of a potential £6m overspend.

The council’s general fund balance is predicted to be £9.6m by the end of March, a figure ‘significantly below the recommended level’.
