Statutory recommendation threat dropped

Warrington Council has escaped the threat of a statutory recommendation being issued by its external auditor Grant Thornton.

The council’s audit and corporate governance committee heard that Warrington has now agreed to adjustments affecting the past four years of accounts, which have yet to be signed off.

Investments like Birchwood Park and the councils’ property investment portfolio will now for the first time require minimum revenue provision charges to be made against them.
