The next PM must deliver on pledges to boost council autonomy

On 19 June the Queen’s Speech will set out the legislative agenda of a new Government. It is less than two years since it was announced that 100% of business rates would be devolved to local government by 2020 and grant funding from central government would be phased out.

Over the next few weeks, I am sure many will be poring over the party manifestos and trying to make sense of how they will shape policy and legislation over the coming years.
